How to develop your clothing personality

Conformity is a comfortable realm for most. We naturally long for a sense of fellowship, unity and similarity.
This is particularly evident in our personal style. Some are wary to dress different for fear of ridicule. In school, we were trained to look, act and think alike. Apart from the school uniform, black shoes, white ankle socks and black hair ties (no more, no less) were the rules. Most of us are probably guilty of having once stared and whispered about the girl who stood out with the odd hairdo and weird shoes.

I recall how my friends and I would religiously plan our weekend wear, so that we showed up for a party in almost identical jeans, sneakers and collared shirts. I remember cringing and feeling completely uncomfortable if I showed up in a long casual dress while the rest were in short dresses.

We would prefer uniformity to individuality. So it was only in the early adult years that we explored and experimented with countless fashion choices.
It takes time and practice to develop one’s style confidence and “clothing personality.” If you’ve made fashion boo-boos along the way, don’t panic! It’s not the end of the world. “What-was-I-thinking?” moments are part self-discovery.
Developing your clothing personality is  important for developing self-confidence and a sense of comfort and satisfaction with yourself. It helps in crafting an image of yourself. The way you dress and project yourself is a way of communicating your personality, values and lifestyle to the world around you.

Get to know yourself

So how exactly do you discover your clothing personality? Tips to get you started:

1) Get to know yourself—An important aspect of dressing and style is self-awareness. The way you dress should reflect your tastes, interests, desires, aspirations and history. I’m  fond of pieces with a hint of nostalgia and romance, such as vintage blouses and delicate jewelry. Understanding yourself is crucial to making style choices consistent with your lifestyle. You may just be misread because of the clothes you wear.

2) Look for some inspiration—Find a celebrity whose personality and lifestyle you can identify with. Observe the clothing choices and combinations she makes and try to incorporate them in your wardrobe. I was challenged during my first pregnancy, so I turned to Heidi Klum for some pregnant style inspiration! From the red carpet to daily life, I admired how she managed to highlight her baby bump while still looking young and stylish.

3) Give away items that are “not you”—Take an honest look at your closet. If you still haven’t worn that beautifully made avant-garde jacket, you probably never will. No matter how great a piece is, it may simply not suit your personality. You may never feel comfortable wearing it. Pass it on to someone who will enjoy it more.

4) Know your body—Dress in silhouettes and styles that flatter your figure. This way, you can make clothing choices that will enhance and complement your shape. The key is to highlight what you like most about yourself. This will help you know which part to focus on when shopping and putting together an outfit. If you have long slender legs, show them off with short skirts to draw attention away from a not-so-fit tummy area.
5) Shop solo—As much as shopping can be a wonderful girl bonding experience, sometimes it helps to fly solo. This will let you make independent choices toward the goal of dressing in a manner that reflects the image you want for yourself, not by the standards and expectations of others.

6) Find your signature piece or look—One should consider it a compliment when people see a piece and exclaim, “It’s so you!” This just proves that you have a signature style people remember you by. US Vogue editor Anna Wintour is known for her iconic bob and oversized sunglasses. Find something that works with your personality whether it be a strand of pearls, a stack of gold bangles, or a white button-down blouse.

7) Play dress up—When I was a teenager, one of my favorite activities on my bored nights at home was “playing dress up.” If you have time on your hands, spend a day by your closet creating various outfit options, down to accessories and shoes. Challenge yourself by putting together outfits you normally would not wear. Mix and match to see which combinations you feel most comfortable in. You may just surprise yourself and discover looks you never thought you could pull off!

No strict rules

Here are general style archetypes or clothing personality types. Many of us are a mix of various personalities. Remember that there are no strict rules in dressing up; what is most important is that you feel confident and comfortable, no matter the circumstance.

a. Classic—Dominated by wardrobe basics such as shift dresses, striped tops, ballet flats. Clean and straight lines, neutral colors such as black, gray and white. Style icons: Coco Chanel, Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie

b. Dramatic—Like to make a strong statement. Styles tend to be glamorous and intimidating. Use of bold jewelry and straight lines. Style icons: Anne Hathaway, Monica Bellucci

c. Romantic—A love for everything pretty and nice. Delicate jewelry. Ruffles, lace, pleats, soft fabrics. Style icons: Marilyn Monroe, Scarlett Johansson

d. Sporty—Girl next door. Easy-to-wear clothes like casual tees and jeans. Style icons: Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz

e. Trendy—Conscious of the latest IT items. Style icons: Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton

f. Eclectic—Mixing different styles in one. Usually creative people. Likes to contrast various styles. Style icons: Diana Vreeland, Kate Moss, Chloe Sevigny

g. Bohemian—Leans toward exotic pieces and hippie vibe. Style icons: Nicole Richie, Rachel Zoe, Diane Von Furstenberg
h. Urban—Edgy and modern. Inspired by music and street. Staples include cargo pants, tank tops, sneakers, gold hoop earrings. Style Icons: Beyoncé, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna

French Rein In Speech Backing Acts of Terror

PARIS — The French powers are moving forcefully to rein in discourse supporting terrorism, utilizing another law to distribute intense jail sentences in a crackdown that is stoking a free-discourse banter after a week ago's assaults in Paris.

Those cleared up under the new law incorporate a 28-year-old man of French-Tunisian foundation who was sentenced to six months in jail after he was discovered liable of yelling backing for the assailants as he passed a police headquarters in Bourgoin-Jalieu on Sunday. A 34-year-old man who on Saturday hit an auto while inebriated, harmed the other driver and accordingly lauded the demonstrations of the shooters when the police kept him was sentenced Monday to four years in jail.

On the whole, up to 100 individuals are under scrutiny for making or posting remarks that help or attempt to support terrorism, as indicated by Cédric Cabut, a prosecutor in Bourgoin-Jalieu, in the east of France. The French news media have reported about cases in Paris, Toulouse, Nice, Strasbourg, Orléans and somewhere else in France.

The captures have brought up issues around a twofold standard with the expectation of complimentary discourse here, with one set of principles for the illustrators who uninhibitedly speared religions of different varieties, actually when Muslims, Catholics and others protested, but then were shielded for their entitlement to do along these lines, and an alternate set for the announcements by Muslim supporters of the shooters, which have prompted their arraignment.

In any case French law does disallow discourse that may conjure or help viciousness. Furthermore prosecutors, who on Wednesday were urged by the Ministry of Justice to battle and arraign "words or demonstrations of scorn" with "most extreme power," are depending especially on new devices under a law embraced in November to fight the danger of jihadism. The law incorporates jail sentences up to seven years for sponsorship terrorism.

Some of the individuals who were refered to under the new law have as of now been sentenced, with the criminal equity framework incredibly quickened, moving from charges to trial and detainment in as meager as three days.

Prosecutors seized on the law in the days after the terrorist assaults in Paris, which left 17 individuals dead — 12 at the work places of Charlie Hebdo, a week by week daily paper that was focused in countering for distributed depiction of the Prophet Muhammad. A notice from the Ministry of Justice on Jan. 12 controlled prosecutors to respond immovably.

The blamed did not need to undermine genuine brutality to run afoul of the law. As indicated by Mr. Cabut, who acquired the case Bourgoin-Jalieu, the man yelled, "They slaughtered Charlie and I had a decent chuckle. In the past they murdered Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, Mohammed Merah and numerous siblings. On the off chance that I didn't have a father or mother, I would prepare in Syria."

The most unmistakable case now pending in the French courts is that of Dieudonné M'bala, a provocative humorist who has been a long-term image in France of the fight between free discourse and open security. With about 40 past captures on suspicion of damaging antihate laws, for proclamations normally administered at Jews, he was again captured on Wednesday, this time for approving terrorism.

He confronts trial in ahead of schedule February regarding a Facebook message he posted, pronouncing, "Today evening time, the extent that I'm concerned, I feel like Charlie Coulibaly." It was a reference to the mainstream motto of solidarity for the killed Charlie Hebdo illustrators — "Je suis Charlie" — and one of the aggressors, Amedy Coulibaly, who killed a policewoman and later four individuals in a legitimate store.

Prosecutors and different legal counselors say the distinction is laid out in French law, which not at all like United States laws, limits what can be said or done in particular classifications. Due to its World War II history, for instance, France has discourse laws that particularly address against Semitism and Holocaust refusal. On account of the Charlie Hebdo illustrators, prosecutors said, the targets were thoughts and ideas, yet despite the fact that regarded amazing by some, the parody was allotted extensively.

"Many individuals say that its crooked to backing Charlie Hebdo and afterward permit Dieudonné to be edited," said Mathieu Davy, an attorney who has some expertise in media rights. "At the same time there are clear points of confinement in our legitimate framework. I have the privilege to reprimand a thought, an idea or a religion. I have the privilege to censure the forces in my nation. However I don't have the privilege to assault individuals and to induce detest."

President François Hollande of France and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany on Thursday both looked to subdue any backfire against Muslims in the wake of the Islamic activists' assaults. As they have additionally done as of late, they raised the issue of against Semitism.

"We must be clear between ourselves, clear," Mr. Hollande told a group of people at the Institute of the Arab World in Paris. He said that disparities and clashes that had continued for quite a long time had energized radical Islam.

"The Muslims are the first casualties of devotion, radicalism and narrow mindedness," he said.

"French Muslims have the same rights, the same obligations as all nationals," Mr. Hollande said.

Pope Francis joined the open deliberation while venturing out to the Philippines from Sri Lanka, saying that while he guarded opportunity of interpretation, there were additionally confines.

"You can't incite," he said. "You can't affront the confidence of others. You can't make fun of the confidence of others."

Mr. Cabut said just a couple of cases had been heard under the late antiterrorism law, until prosecutors started utilizing it generously as a part of the previous week. Its procurements target loathe discourse and are intended to arrangement all the more seriously with remarks posted on the Internet. On the off chance that the offense is talked, the law permits a sentence of five years and a fine of practically $90,000. On the off chance that it is on the Internet, it permits sentencing up to seven years and a fine of about $120,000.

"I think there is an environment of feeling where individuals are still in a condition of stun," Mr. Cabut said. "So its important for prosecutors to act solidly."

He said that there were cutoff points to how far prosecutors would take after the law. For example, he said, nobody would be indicted for declining to remained amid a minute of hush, which has happened in his district.

In any case that has as of now been put under a magnifying glass with another case on Thursday including a stopping specialist in Paris who was suspended by the police prefecture for declining to watch a noiseless tribute to the victimized people.

Catherine Perbet, a legal counselor who has protected individuals blamed for supporting viciousness, said the law was being utilized cruelly now in light of the political and social atmosphere. She spoke to the man in Bourgoin-Jalieu and said his arraignment and sentence "is not stunning given the circumstances."

Agnès Tricoire, a legal counselor who has practical experience in media rights and flexibility of statement, said that the force of the law was aggravating and that nobody had expected how rapidly it could be utilized. "It's much less difficult now for the prosecutor to sue individuals who said or composed something," she said. "What does it intend to make a statement of regret for terrorism? It is safe to say that it is a basic sentence? Do you need to have a contention? Is it true that it is something that must be considered important?"

"This," she included, "is bad for human rights."

Aside from one of the saints in the assaults, as the powers accelerated the migration process for Lassana Bathily, a Muslim from Mali, who concealed clients amid the assault on the legitimate business sector and after that helped the prisoners and the police. The powers said he had been made a French national.

France’s Jews Have No Choice but Israel

TEL AVIV — There is extraordinary incongruity to Israel's intuitive reaction to fear assaults on Jews in Europe — and the wrecking assault a week ago on a fit market in Paris was the same.

Pack your effects! Escape! Escape, Israel urges the Jews of France.

A legislature that never misses a chance to address the Western world about the pitfalls of surrendering to terrorism is proposing precisely that — surrender — to the Jews of France.

Surrender emulated by movement to Israel, where surrender is impossible.

"The condition of Israel is your home," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Jews of France, refraining from outrightly saying that they should leave and come to Israel as Prime Minister Ariel Sharon proposed 10 years prior.

"On the off chance that I need to prompt our siblings in France," Mr. Sharon said at the time, "I'll let them know one thing — move to Israel, as ahead of schedule as could reasonably be expected." President Jacques Chirac responded irately and pronounced Mr. Sharon persona non grata.

It's reasonable why the French take offense. The call for movement to Israel is a vote of no trust in France's capacity to ensure its own particular residents. Mr. Netanyahu was cautious in bundling his message a week ago, yet the French still didn't need him at Sunday's gigantic walk in Paris and they just reluctantly acknowledged his vicinity.

Parts of Mr. Netanyahu's legislature were, of course, less conciliatory.

An Israeli agent clergyman, Ofir Akunis of the Likud gathering, approached French Jews to "return" to Israel. Agent Minister Eli Ben-Dahan of the Jewish Home gathering let them know, "Your spot is with us."

The movement alternative has gotten to be significantly more maintained as of late. A year ago more than 6,000 French Jews moved to Israel, more than from some other nation, and the potential for development is noteworthy.

They have their reasons. Against Semitic episodes have turned into a consistent event in France. The surge in assaults is decently archived, as is the declining suspicion that all is well and good of French Jews. Also the French government doesn't appear to know how to end this dangerous methodology.

Empowering Jews from all nations to move to Israel is in Israel's DNA, and Israel could significantly profit from an inundation of French settlers. In any case Israeli pioneers should stop before requiring a mass departure of French Jews.

Does the Jewish state need to effectively help finishing numerous several years of French Jewish history? Would it like to pass on the message that yes, as the terrorists contend, there is no spot for Jews in France? Would it like to infer that French endeavors to ensure Jews have been a disappointment? Does it need the world to see dreadful Jews escaping from Europe as a group once more?

France is home to an incredible Jewish human advancement, the third-biggest Jewish group on the planet — a Jewish group in a Western, liberal nation that is by all accounts into a bad situation.

Also we now live in our current reality where lately individuals have agonized unemotionally, practically indifferently, over the inquiry of whether the Jews "have a future" in France.

If not France, where? What's more if not a future, what?

Israel trusts it has the answer. Jews can escape the fear of radical Islamists in France, to discover protect in a spot where the dread of radical Islamists is as standard as baguettes and Bordeaux.

In the event that these Jews come to Israel and face fear, they will be urged to stay, to show to the foe the significance of a hardheaded individuals. Israel, in the account that is sold to French Jews nowadays, is the place Jews make their last stand.

It is deplorable to witness an incredible Jewish group in an extraordinary nation gradually losing its capacity to flourish in an antagonistic and vicious environment. Also it is sad that all the Jewish state brings to the table them is break.

Toward the end of Mr. Netanyahu's visit to Paris, he went to a function in a synagogue, where the jam spontaneously broke into tune taking after his comments. Anyway they weren't singing in Hebrew; they were singing France's national hymn, "La Marseillaise." One marvels what they were supposing when they arrived at the animating tune, "Aux armes citoyens!" And if these subjects one day rise up to safeguard themselves, will they do so as French nationals or as Israelis?

On Sunday, France's president, François Hollande, made clear how he sees the circumstances. He apparently promised to Jewish pioneers that he would take all vital measures to shield them, including sending the armed force.

Yet it is an annihilating prospect that in 2015 the Jews of France may need officers to shield them from hostile to Semitic brutality.

For the four Jews who were executed at a Paris market, Israel will be their last resting spot.

If the route for Jews to live in France today is behind garisson huts and watchmen with weapons, maybe it bodes well not only for the dead to go to Israel, additionally for the living to move to a spot where we are the gatekeepers, we are the armed force and we are the government.

How Rev. Ejike Mbaka Turned From Pro-Jonathan To Anti-Jonathan

Ejike-Mbaka

Before his fierce attack on President Goodluck Jonathan on the New Year eve, a renowned Roman Catholic Priest, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, Enugu, was a supporter of the presidential policy and even endorsed him for the second term.

In November 2014 Rev. Mbaka welcomed the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, others to his Enugu parish. He told Mama Peace that her husband had “done well” and deserved another tenure at the Aso Rock.
PremiumTimes, with the reference to a church session recording, informed that Rev. Mbaka defended the incumbent president for not saving the Chibok girls.
The cleric noted that the president could have accomplished more if not for “distractions”, apparently referring to the issues of terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria.
Speaking on the Chibok girls’ abduction, Rev. Mbaka said: “Campaigners have no reason asking the president to return the girls home since Mr. Jonathan was not keeping them.”
“Jonathan is not a kidnapper,” he added.
Dame Patience was the special guest of honour as the Enugu Church marked its 2014 annual thanksgiving and bazaar. She took a Bible reading from Genesis chapter 12: 2-3.
Later, speaking directly to the First Lady as she knelt before the altar, Rev. Mbaka described her as a mother whose passion for Nigeria is widely acknowledged. He said his ministry had always prayed for President Jonathan not only to win elections but to excel in leadership.
“We are not stopping, because we want him to go back. Even if you don’t come here, we keep praying for him,” the priest said, addressing the president directly.
“Because the first one we did you were not here. We are not sycophantic. Because you and your husband have done well, in spite of the distractions.”
He told the First Lady to “go with the consolation of the Holy Spirit. The anointing of the Lord says God will make your family great.”
In her return, Mrs. Jonathan expressed gratitude to the church for the “spiritual intervention”, said she was encouraged to “bring our people to the path of peace and unity at this time we are facing security challenges.”
Rev. Mbaka later offered special prayers for the first lady and the president.
However, a bit more than a month later, the priest made U-turn, called on Goodluck Jonathan to “quietly resign” for failing to tackle the insecurity and corruption, and to provide jobs for the Nigerian youth. He also noted that Muhammadu Buhari, who is the main challenger of the incumbent president, deserved to win the February polls.
The priest recalled the November session with the First Lady, and said the “spiritual drama” he performed that day, using pigeons, showed the president would lose the forthcoming elections.
He said four birds were freed from the cage to fly up but the one that represented Mr. Jonathan refused to move even though it was the healthiest.
“When God rejected Saul, David took over. Let me tell you, in the history of Nigeria, we have never experienced bloodshed as we have in the time of Goodluck. If Goodluck means bloodshed for Nigerians, are you waiting until your own blood is shed,” he said, as the crowd replied with “No”.
The real reasons why Rev. Mbaka has reversed his earlier position are yet to be ascertained, as he was unavailable for comments in person. One thing is for sure: the speech has sparked extensive debate in the country, the most intense yet for 2015.

Boko Haram abducts 40 boys, men in Borno village – witnesses

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen have kidnapped 40 boys and young men in a remote village in Borno state on New Year’s Eve‎, residents who fled the isolated settlement said on Saturday.

Scores of Boko Haram militants stormed the Malari village and whisked away the males, aged between 10 and 23, into the nearby Sambisa forest, believed to be one of the Islamists’ major bases.
The news of the abductions came out only days later, when residents who fled the village arrived in the state capital Maiduguri late on Friday.
“They came in pick-up trucks armed with guns and gathered all the men in the village outside the home of the village chief where they preached to us before singling out 40 of our boys and taking them away,” Bulama Muhammad told AFP
‎Malari village lies 20 kilometres (12.5 miles) from the Sambisa forest and close to the town of Gwoza, which the militants captured last June declaring it part of their caliphate.
“My two sons and three nephews were among those taken away by the Boko Haram‎ gunmen and we believe they are going to use them as conscripts,” Muhammad said.
“When we heard of the kidnap of 40 boys in Malari by Boko Haram we decided to leave because we could be the next target,” said Alaramma Babagoni, who fled from the nearby village of Mulgwi.
There was no immediate comment on the incident from the military in Maiduguri.
Boko Haram is still holding in captivity more than 200 schoolgirls it abducted from their school in Chibok in Borno state last April.
The Islamists are believed to control large swathes of territory in Borno as well as several towns and villages in two other northeastern states, Adamawa and Yobe.
Boko Haram’s five-year uprising in Nigeria has claimed more than 13,000 lives and has seen dozens of people, including women and children, kidnapped by the Islamists.

7 Things Women Desperately Want From Men

'To generalize on women is dangerous. To specialize on them is infinitely worse'.

A Woman's want is insatiable they say, but there are certain things women desperately want from men. There are still a good number of things that most women like. Below are 7 things women desperately want from men

Superman: Women love to be protected. So show in more ways than one to prove that you will be her saviour should your damsel land in distress! Women are always in awe of men who can step up in times of conflicts. Be sure you grab every opportunity that situation throws at you.

Smell good: Deodorant Ads may be going overboard showing men being lured by women's perfume. But the other way is also true. Choose a deo that suits you. Especially if it's your first date, it's best not to try anything experimental. Know what smells best on you. Remember, what smelt heavenly on your friend might stink on your skin! For everything depends on your body odour. When you spray perfume on your body, what you smell is a combination of the deo spray and your body odour. Choose wise.

Surprises galore: Women love surprises be it chocolates, love notes, gifts or even a bouquet of flowers. Women don't mind them in any numbers. You are sure to score brownie points with this one!

Transparency: Honesty is still the best policy. Never lie to her if you are thinking of a long-term relationship. Never mind you will face some initial flak, but eventually you will win over her trust.

Perfect body: What with the celebrities being obsessed with getting a six pack or eight pack abs, girls too go ga ga over men with a well-toned body. Get into the habit of regular workout so you can make heads turn!

Dress well: Nothing turns off a women than a poorly-dressed man. Do a style-check, spot the trends in fashion, speak to a stylist to find out what looks best on you. Clothes maketh man literally!

Hard working: Women always will appreciate a hard working man and as such will go for the hard working type who can take care of her financial responsibilities.

There's a joke doing the rounds that 'A woman's mind is cleaner than a man's That's because she changes it more often'. However, there are some things that remain constant.

SHOCKER! Man behead mother on New Year’s Eve

A schizophrenic Florida man behead his mother with an ax on New Year’s Eve because he was fed up with her nagging, US authorities and media said Thursday.

Christian Jose Gomez, 23, was arrested and charged with first degree murder after admitting to killing his mother, Maria Suarez-Cassagne, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Police in the city of Oldsmar went to the woman’s house after a relative called to say Gomez “had cut her head off,” the sheriff’s office said.
He then dumped her body near the home’s garbage cans and disappeared on a bicycle before police caught him.
“He just left the body sitting there, next to the trash can, went into the garage, tried to clean up the scene a little bit,” Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri told NBC News.
“When he saw that wouldn’t happen is when he left.”
According to several US media outlets, authorities said Gomez is a diagnosed schizophrenic.
Gualtieri told WFLA television that Gomez had killed his mother, because he was upset she had been asking him to put some boxes in the attic.
“Because he was mad at her … he planned her murder for two days,” Gualtieri said.
The murder weapon, an ax, was recovered.
